Aluminum Wood-Look Projecting Eaves

Traditional Chinese Projecting Eaves

The roof is one of the most distinctive features of traditional Chinese architecture. Its sweeping curves and varied forms can appear dignified and monumental or light and graceful, earning widespread recognition in both Chinese and international architectural circles. Projecting eaves are an essential part of this traditional roof structure. The most visible elements include the fascia board, eave rafters—including primary and flying rafters—eave sheathing or backing panels, and the supporting purlin structure. Contemporary Chinese-style architecture is not simply a reproduction of the past. It introduces modern ideas while integrating classical character with contemporary design, allowing architectural products to evolve in both function and appearance.

Through extensive research into traditional timber construction and architectural form, combined with experience drawn from international eave systems, EACHANCE has developed a metal projecting-eave enclosure system for traditional Chinese-style buildings. The system integrates functionality, durability, and architectural expression. Our advanced finishing facilities support a wide range of surface treatments, achieving a considered balance between performance and appearance.

Economical Durable, easy to install and dismantle, and convenient for routine inspection and maintenance.

Environmentally Responsible Contains no intentionally added environmentally harmful substances. The aluminum-alloy components can be recovered and recycled.

Design Flexibility Colors, profiles, and connection details preserve the character of traditional architecture while accommodating contemporary design requirements.

Primary Eave-Rafter System

System Components
Tile-support board, fascia board, eave rafters or decorative pouch-shaped rafters, eave sheathing panels, and purlin channels.

Tile-Support Board
Supports the lower edge of the roof tiles and is available in two specifications: 20 × 20 cm and 18 × 18 cm.

Fascia Board
Protects the eave edge, helps prevent rainwater from flowing back beneath the roof, and conceals the ends of the eave rafters.

Eave Sheathing Panel
Manufactured from lightweight aluminum alloy for long-lasting corrosion resistance.

Purlin Channel
Replaces the traditional timber purlin while also securing the eave rafters and sheathing panels.

Flying-Rafter System

System Components
Tile-support board, fascia board, eave rafters or decorative pouch-shaped rafters, flying rafters, eave sheathing panels, inner-edge channels, and purlin channels.

Tile-Support Board
Supports the lower edge of the roof tiles and is available in two specifications: 20 × 20 cm and 18 × 18 cm.

Fascia Board
Protects the eave edge, helps prevent rainwater from flowing back beneath the roof, and conceals the rafter ends.

Eave Rafters
Together with the sheathing panels, the eave rafters form an important part of the soffit beneath a traditional Chinese projecting roof. They are primarily decorative and are not intended to carry structural loads.

Flying Rafters
Extend the roofline beyond the primary eave rafters to create the characteristic lifted profile of traditional Chinese roofs. Their length is typically approximately half that of the primary eave rafters.

Inner-Edge Channel
Provides the connection between the primary eave rafters and the flying rafters.

Eave Sheathing Panel
Manufactured from lightweight aluminum alloy for long-term corrosion resistance.

Purlin Channel
Replaces the traditional timber purlin while securing the eave rafters and sheathing panels.

Metal Faqiang Upturned Corner-Eave System

Flying rafters are an important feature of traditional Chinese roof construction. At each corner, the eaves sweep upward and outward, creating the impression of wings in flight. Light and expressive in appearance, this distinctive form is known in the Jiangnan region as faqiang.

Beyond establishing a recognizable regional architectural character, the upturned-corner treatment can increase access to daylight and improve rainwater drainage.

The EACHANCE metal faqiang system follows the projecting-eave principles of traditional Chinese timber construction and draws on the methods recorded in Yingzao Fayuan, an important treatise on traditional Jiangnan building practice. It preserves both the form and spirit of the original timber architecture.

Because upturned corner-eave structures involve complex geometry, each project requires accurate on-site measurement and setting-out. The collected data is then used to create a three-dimensional digital model and develop a project-specific solution, helping the finished system achieve an accurate fit with the building.
